In 2020 FEDS are offering two fully funded Youth Guarantee courses at levels 2 and 3. Both courses are fully funded by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). The aim of both courses is to prepare students for a career in the automotive industry.
Youth Guarantee Level 3
The level 3 course runs for 40 weeks and is open to students who are aged between 16 and 19 years who have achieved NCEA level 1 as a minimum but who have not achieved a level 3 qualification. The course cover the New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Engineering (Level 3). As well as completing the industry recognised pre-trade qualifications students can expect to develop their life and work readiness skills.
Prospective students will need to have a passion for the motor industry and demonstrate that they have the literacy and numeracy skills required to complete the course. Typically students will have achieved NCEA level 2 through Youth Guarantee on entry.
Modules Covered Include:
Youth Guarantee level 2
The level 2 course runs for 24-28 weeks and is open to students who are aged between 16 and 19 years who have not yet achieved NCEA level 2. The course covers NCEA with a Vocational Pathway endorsement in Manufacturing and Technology.
This qualification provides an excellent grounding for students across various automotive trades. In addition to gaining the motor industry standards students will have the opportunity to complete the literacy and numeracy standards required for NCEA.
At the completion of this qualification graduates will be ready to move into employment within the motor industry or carry on to study for the level three New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Engineering.
